I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Oregon State University and Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from Pacific University in Oregon. I am licensed as a psychologist in California and was a member of the San Diego Psychological Association Ethics and Standards Committee 2016-2019. I particularly enjoy working with individuals who are experiencing a life transition, attachment concerns, mood or anxiety issues, a history of childhood trauma or emotional neglect, or want to improve their relationship with self.

In addition to my love for psychotherapy, I am also passionate about immigration and social justice issues around the globe. I am a west coast USA native who now lives abroad and I appreciate staying connected to my roots and supporting the unique struggles and needs of Americans through my work. In my free time I enjoy learning languages, traveling the globe as a digital nomad, hiking, and photography.

Approach

My approach to psychotherapy is an ever-evolving result of years of experience in community mental health centers, residential inpatient settings, large group practice settings, and private practice (along with personal experience on this beautiful life journey!). I have worked with individuals, couples, and families of all ages, many cultural backgrounds, and LGBTQ populations.

My approach is integrative and draws from psychodynamic theories, the Neuro-Affective Relational Model (NARM), spiritual psychology, internal family systems, and cognitive-behavioral theories, combined with mindfulness, meditation, and other Eastern spiritual traditions. I believe in a combined approach that combines the benefits of scientific research in the Western tradition with the spiritual aspects of our being. Authors, psychologists, and spiritual teachers such as Carl Jung, Michael Stone, Brené Brown, and Nancy McWilliams are in alignment with my perspective on human life, functioning, and relationships. I believe awareness into the mind-body-spirit connection is essential.

Through collaborative work together we will strive for empowerment, find healthier ways to cope with struggles, discover your authentic self and use your voice, and build trust in your own ability to manage life’s difficulties – all through a lens of compassion for self and others. The ultimate vision is to provide you with awareness, knowledge, and skills to have a vibrant, fulfilling, and healthy life in mind, body, and spirit – as well as healthy and fulfilling relationships with others. As Nancy McWilliams has said, “The more honest we are with ourselves, the better our chances for living a satisfying and useful life”. We will work to increase your self-understanding to foster change.

I provide a non-judgmental, compassionate space for you to address and explore issues with a holistic focus. I have received consistent feedback that my warm, down-to-earth personality puts people at ease.
